This Saturday, the Isla del Colegio will host a new astronomical observation, an initiative by the Department of Citizen Participation in collaboration with the Agrupación Astronómica Complutense, which is touring the five districts of the city.
The activity, scheduled as part of the San Juan Festivities in District V, will start at 10:00 PM, is free, and no prior registration is required.
The aim of this activity is to bring astronomy closer to the people of Alcalá, as well as to do it as a family.
The space where the activity will take place will be divided into three areas. One area is dedicated to observation, where a minimum of five or six telescopes and binoculars will be provided for direct observation.
Alcalá’s districts will enjoy nights of astronomical observation
Another area is dedicated to dynamic talks and workshops, and a third area for projection and maintenance, where a projector and a screen with images and videos will be set up, also in real time thanks to an astrocamera attached to an auxiliary telescope.
Each telescope will be operated by a member of the Agrupación Astronómica Complutense who will provide the necessary explanations to understand what is being observed at all times.
During the session, which lasts about two and a half hours, the Moon will be seen, and if possible, also planets. At the same time, on the projection area screen, and throughout the event, the Moon will be displayed in real time, along with some videos from NASA, ESA, etc.
This is the fourth lunar observation day, following those held at Plaza Andrés Manuel del Río in February, at Santa Rosa de Lima de La Garena in April, or the one at Juan Pablo II Park in El Ensanche in June.
