The Roman Empire is reborn in Alcalá de Henares this spring
As detailed during the presentation by the Tourism Councilor, Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, this year’s program will feature the Roman Market as its main attraction. It will extend from the Plaza de los Santos Niños to the walled enclosure and will be filled with entertainment activities such as chariot races, chariots, or gladiators in the Circus Maximus.
Furthermore, the Regional Archaeological and Paleontological Museum offers the temporary exhibition Hispano, Gladiators in the Roman Empire, which has already been visited by 15,000 people since its opening. The School of Architecture at the University of Alcalá (UAH) will also host round tables and book presentations.

On another note, District II will have a special relevance in this edition. On April 29, the 5th edition of Having Drinks with the Romans will take place at the Ibis La Garena hotel (Antonio Suárez, 8).
However, the main highlight will be the newly inaugurated Antiquarium Complutum, an interpretation center of the archaeological park Complutum that provides context and information to visitors about the archaeological sites.

Additionally, between this museum of the Roman city and the Juncal Fountain, the Roman Historical Recreation Camp will be located this year on May 3 and 4. It will involve over 120 national reenactors and, for the first time, will feature a foreign association.
A shuttle bus will connect the market with the camp and will depart from the Puerta de Madrid at a price of 2 euros per trip.
The Roman military parade will also take place in this district, starting from the Roman Camp, passing through the Camino del Juncal, and ending at the basilica of the Roman Forum of Complutum before returning to the camp along the same route.
