An incident that started with a car parked in the Estación neighborhood of Alcalá de Henares has resulted in three vehicles completely burnt. The event caused a visible column of smoke throughout the city center, alarming the residents, who promptly alerted the emergency services.
«It was around ten o’clock or so because that’s when I heard the explosion. I couldn’t open the window because the fire was coming up with the tree. It burned a lot of things for my neighbor, shattered the glass,» a neighbor recounts.
The flames reached several meters in height, and although two of the affected cars were quickly removed by their owners, the third, an abandoned vehicle, was the focal point of the issue.
According to several neighbors, this car had been parked in the area for over a month and was used by homeless individuals. «A young guy used to come every now and then, but lately a couple would go in there, smoke weed, and even sleep inside,» another neighbor explains.

«They used it for everything: they made love, smoked things they shouldn’t, did their business there, in the trunk they had toilet paper, towels full of poop, bath towels,» she adds.
They point out that a couple lives in the car, and we managed to speak with the woman, who accuses another person of starting the fire. «It was the Bulgarian, the queen. She set it on fire. I came to the procession and had a candle with a cap. She removed the cap, lit the candle and set it on fire. She left and left me behind,» she declares.

A Fire Brigade unit quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire on the vehicles, along with several officers from the Local and National Police who carried out security and investigative tasks.
