On April 23rd, Book Day, the Cervantes Prize is awarded at the University of Alcalá de Henares.
As a prelude, the Alcalá Corporation paid tribute to Miguel de Cervantes, whose statue presides over the square that bears his name in the town center.
A laurel wreath has been placed at the foot of the monument, which was carried in a civic procession from the Town Hall.
Following this, the mayor went to the Cisneriana University, where the kings presented the 2024 Cervantes Prize to the Cantabrian writer Álvaro Pombo in the Paraninfo.
