
From April 22nd to May 11th, the Festival de la Palabra is celebrated in Alcalá de Henares, featuring several highlights such as the presentation of the Cervantes Prize to the writer Álvaro Pombo on April 23rd, and the Book Fair, which will kick off two days later.
During the Book Fair, buyers of books will receive a copy of the biography of Juan de Campos, the Alcalá native who completed the first circumnavigation of the globe with Elcano and Magallanes.
In addition, there will be the Festival de Cuentacuentos, activities in libraries, theater performances, and a ‘Cervantes walk’ through the Botanical Garden of the Campus. In total, around 70 activities will take place in 22 locations throughout the city.

In the cycle ‘Leer y recordar’ , poet and writer Luis García Montero and poet Rocío Acebal will discuss Ángel González. Singer and composer Amancio Prada will paint a portrait of Carmen Martín Gaite.
Novelist Juana Salabert and novelist and journalist Inés Martín Rodrigo will talk about Ana María Matute; and translator and essayist Carlos Fortea along with writer and journalist Noemí Sabugal will discuss Ignacio Aldecoa.
Furthermore, on April 25th, Alcalá will join the celebration of the Noche de los Libros with storytelling sessions at the Municipal Libraries Cardenal Cisneros, Moliner, Pío Baroja, and Rosa Chacel.
