El Gobierno debe abordar seriamente el problema.

Four people arrested for public disorder, resistance, and disobedience. In the next few hours, the 21-year-old man from Mali arrested for the rape of a woman in Alcalá de Henares will be brought before the court. The Community of Madrid demands the closure not only of the immigrant reception center in this town, but also of all emergency centers (Carabanchel and Pozuelo de Alarcón) set up by the central government in the Community of Madrid.

The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, has demanded on Thursday the closure of «migrant macrocamps» arguing that it «cannot be the only solution to the migration problem».

Four arrested in Alcalá de Henares

Speaking from La Princesa Hospital, García Martín deeply regretted the assault on a girl by a 21-year-old man of Malian nationality staying at the Reception and Emergency Center in the Madrid town.

After the arrest of the Malian man, there were moments of tension in the city of Alcalá: the protest against his arrest was not authorized and, according to police sources, about 70 people remained in the square, leading to the throwing of glass bottles and insults. It all ended with four people being arrested.

«Lack of government policy and leadership»

«That’s why we have once again asked the Government Delegate to take action, provide more resources, logically deploy more National Police and Civil Guard officers, and equip the National Police and Civil Guard with resources,» García Martín stated.

However, the Madrid councilor believes that the presence of these migrant centers in the region cannot be «the only solution» to a problem that is «a consequence of the lack of policy and leadership of this Government

In this regard, García Martín criticized Spain for having «the most permeable borders in the EU» while the Spanish government «is not taking a single measure.»

«We demand that these macrocamps in the Community of Madrid be closed as soon as possible and, of course, that security and protection measures for all citizens be strengthened,» he added.

«This government needs to take seriously a problem that is also affecting all of Europe,» he insisted before pointing out that this issue «is affecting people who even lose their lives in the sea while trying to reach our shores.»

400 migrant minors to arrive in Pozuelo de Alarcón

Regarding the arrival of 400 migrant minors in Pozuelo de Alarcón, García Martín stated that the distribution that has been carried out «makes no sense,» as it has been done «without consulting other public administrations and without explaining the objective criteria that justify having 400 unaccompanied minors here» when the region is already under «a very strong migratory pressure.»
