The concentration that ended with a police officer injured, one arrested, and up to 57 people identified in Alcalá de Henares and where around 500 people gathered near the Jardines Juan Pablo II was not authorized, as specified by sources from the Government Delegation to Europa Press.
On Friday, a concentration called to protest the alleged sexual assault committed by an inmate at the Emergency and Referral Shelter (CAED) in Plaza José Cadalso in Alcalá was disauthorized by the Delegation –located very close to the gardens and the CAED–, but allowed to take place in Plaza de la Paloma, in the city center.

Faced with this change of location, the organizer –a private individual– decided to dissolve the concentration, scheduled for 8 p.m., according to the same sources. The document issued pointed to the risk and violence situations that occurred during the unauthorized concentration in front of the CAED last Wednesday –the day the young migrant was arrested for alleged sexual assault–, where four people were arrested and another twenty were identified for disturbances.
Even though the Friday concentration was canceled, eventually about 500 people gathered near the reception center with the intention of protesting in Plaza José Cadalso, the initially proposed location (which was disauthorized).
The concentration received support through social media from groups like ‘Revuelta’, the youth association affiliated with Vox, or Núcleo Nacional. Therefore, a police operation was deployed in this area of the city of Alcalá to «act proportionally and appropriately to the situation,» as detailed by the Delegation, with the aim of «preventing the intention shown by some of the participants to move with a violent attitude towards the CAED.»
